# Multi-Agent Orchestrator

**Type:** Open source software project

**License:** Open source
**Status:** Active

## What it is

A framework for building multi-agent AI systems where agents work together to complete complex tasks. Handles dependency resolution — ensuring agents don't execute in parallel when their inputs depend on each other — and manages inter-agent communication.

## Core design principles

### Dependency Resolution
- Agents declare what inputs they need and what outputs they produce
- The orchestrator builds a dependency graph before execution
- Agents with no unmet dependencies run in parallel; those with dependencies wait

### Parallel Execution
- Multiple agents can execute concurrently when their dependency trees allow
- Reduces total wall-clock time for complex multi-step tasks
- Results are passed along the dependency chain automatically

### Inter-Agent Communication
- Agents communicate through a shared state store
- Each agent's output becomes available to downstream agents as inputs
- Clear contract between what each agent produces and what it consumes

## Related to Hermes

The orchestrator is designed to work alongside Hermes Agent Framework, enabling Hermes to spawn subagents for parallel research or task execution rather than handling everything sequentially.
